From media reports: ADN Radio reported that this Thursday, October 26, a new national strike of air traffic controllers will begin, a mobilization that will generate complications in all the country's airports.


For this reason, various airlines have begun to implement facilities for passengers as a result of the effects that flights will have for the long weekend.


In addition, they recommended frequently checking all types of updates on their website.


Along these lines, they confirmed that they will enable the Passenger Protection Plan with which customers will be able to request a change in flight date without penalty or fare difference, or the return of their ticket in voucher or to the same means of payment.


This option will be available to passengers between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. this Thursday.

DUBAI, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Dubai's Emirates Airlines has suspended its flights to and from Tel Aviv until Nov. 14, it said in a statement on the Emirates App.


"We are closely monitoring the situation in Israel and are in close contact with the relevant authorities. The safety of our customers, crew and stakeholders is our number one priority," the statement said.

A major international airline has culled all of its long-haul flights, including routes between Vietnam and Frankfurt, London, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Bamboo Airways — a Vietnamese carrier — that launched in 2022, will no longer fly to the two major Aussie cities, axing all local staff as it undergoes a massive restructure.

Despite a big push into the Australian market early last year with direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City, along with Melbourne to Hanoi — a quick search on the Bamboo Airways website will now show the routes are “unavailable” and “flights not found”.

It comes as the airline focuses on improving commercial efficiency by reducing routes with “low passenger demand” and increasing operation on high-demand routes.

From media reports: News portal La Nacion.com reported Monday morning that airline JetSmart was forced to cancel 16 flights and reschedule four flights because of a baggage handlers' strike staged by employees of Intercargo.


The industrial action also affected air carrier Flybondi, that had to cancel six flights to Mendoza, Cordoba, Bariloche and Buenos Aires; another 20 of Flybondi flights were delayed.

From media reports: Observe BD reported at least 12 people were killed and several others injured after a passenger train and a container train collided head-on at the Bhairab Railway Station in Kishoreganj District on Monday.


Eye witnesses said the container train headed toward Chattogram collided with the Dhaka-bound Egarosindhur Express around 3 p.m. local time at the Jagannathpur crossing.


At least 12 bodies were recovered from the wreckage and the death toll could increase, said Abdul Alim Sikder, officer-in-charge of the police station.


Many people are stuck under the train, the news source indicated.


Fire fighters have rushed to the spot and are engaging in a rescue operation.

Eurocontrol reported on Monday, 23 October 2023, that arriving flights are delayed at this time at the following airport:

Arrivals regulated because of weather (cumulonimbus clouds) with moderate to high delays.


Because arriving flights are delayed, departing flight schedules may be affected.

Frome media reports: News portal La Nacion.com reported Friday morning that takeoffs and landings were halted at Buenos Aires' Jorge Newbery Airport after four flights to Mendoza were targeted with bomb threats. As a result, one aircraft was evacuated, as well as the pre-boarding area of the airport. It was reopened, but delays in boarding procedures lingered.

According to airport operator Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, the bomb threats targeted four flights to Mendoza: two in Flybondi, one in Aerolineas Argentinas and one in Jet Smart.

“Only the 9:45 a.m. Flybondi flight was cancelled and evacuated, while the other three were delayed,” an airport spokesperson said.


The other affected flights are AR1448 MDZ, scheduled for 10:40; WJ3244, with departure time at 11:45; and FB5064, which would leave at 3:05 p.m.

While authorities were probing the bombs threats, flights close to landing were diverted to Ezeiza International Airport.

FRANKFURT, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Lufthansa and all its airlines have extended the suspension of flights to Israel to Oct. 31 due to security concerns in the region, the company said on Friday.


The suspension includes all flights to and from Tel Aviv as well as Beirut, the company, which also include Swiss, Austrian and Brussels Airlines, said.

Transport services in Germany are set to face major disruption later this week as Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn staff are due to go on strike on the same days.

Delta Air Lines announced it would be forced to cancel additional flights to Israel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.


The Atlanta-based carrier canceled all flights between Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport scheduled to depart between November 1-15, with sales of those flights suspended.


Delta also revealed that while booking was suspended earlier this month for Tel Aviv flights to and from Atlanta and Boston, the airline will cancel all flights between these markets starting on November 1.

Eurocontrol reported on Tuesday, 24 October, that arriving flights are being regulated at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE) in France because of weather conditions (storm).

High delays are expected at this time.

Air Vanuatu has suspended all domestic and international flights while authorities are calling ships back to harbour, in anticipation of violent winds and a potentially tsunami-like storm surge as tropical Cyclone Lola bears down on the region.


Lola was earlier upgraded to a category 5 storm, with our Pacific neighbours on red alert as they brace for winds over 300km/h. It has since been downgraded to category 4.


Tropical Cyclone Lola is sitting just to the northeast of Vanuatu, and is expected to crash straight into the archipelago on Wednesday. It is the earliest recorded category 5 cyclone ever to develop in the South Pacific, with the official cyclone season not beginning until 1 November.

Passengers flying out of Leeds Bradford Airport today (October 23) are once again being urged to check their flights, with a number of departures and arrivals canceled.

It follows a dramatic incident that happened as Storm Babet reached its height last week, with a TUI plane arriving from Corfu skidding off the Tarmac and coming to a sudden halt on nearby grass.

While nobody was injured, the bumpy landing preceded the closure of the entire airport. Wind and rain continued to batter the region over the weekend and departure boards confirmed that all flights departing from Leeds Bradford remain canceled for the first half of Saturday (October 21).

Then, just hours after it reopened, the airport had to be evacuated after a suspicious package was reported - which later turned out to be lost luggage.

It was reported that the package was left outside the building and the emergency services were called while the building was cleared shortly after 7:30 p.m.

While the incident appeared to signal a dramatic end to an eventful few days at the airport, there will have been further disappointment for some this morning as three departures have been canceled – and another two arrivals have also been slashed.

From media reports: A strike by employees of the baggage handling company Intercargo generated delays at Buenos Aires' Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque) while affecting flights of low-cost airlines JetSmart and Flybondi.

The industrial action began during the early hours of Monday and continued through the morning.

So far, JetSmart had to reschedule 14 flights, while Flybondi delayed another three flights.

There were no delays at the other Buenos Aires major airport, Ezeiza.

A statement from JetSmart asked passengers to check information about their flights on the company's website or by calling 11 2206 7799.

It might be heading towards November, but the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season is still strong. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) on Tuesday issued several warnings for this season’s latest named storm, Tropical Storm Tammy.


As of the latest update from the NHC on Friday morning, Tammy was located about 100 miles northeast of Barbados and 185 miles east-southeast of Martinique. It was moving west-northwest at 8 mph.


The NHC expects Tammy to keep moving north, but turn out towards the Atlantic, which would see it avoid a direct hit to most of the Caribbean islands, including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and more (see graphic above). Still, the storm will move near or over some portions of the Leeward Islands on Friday night and into Saturday, which could affect travel in those areas over the weekend.


For the moment, the NHC has issued the following warnings:


Hurricane Watch (hurricane conditions possible within the next 24 hours) for Guadeloupe, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, St. Maarten, St. St. Maarten, and St. Barthelemy.


Tropical Storm Warning (tropical storm conditions expected within the next 36 hours) for all those areas, plus Dominica.


Tropical Storm Watch (tropical storm conditions possible within 48 hours) for Barbados, Martinique, and Saba and St. Eustatius.


Airline waivers


Due to the expected impact from Tammy, several airlines have issued some change fee waivers and advisors.


Air Canada has issued a waiver for VC Bird International Airport in Antigua and Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport in St. Lucia for travel on Oct. 21. Flyers can change their travel dates for free.


American Airlines has issued a waiver for Clayton J. Lloyd Airport in Anguilla; V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua; Argyle International Airport in St. Vincent; Grantley Adams International in Barbados; Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport; Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix; Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts; Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten; and Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas.


American’s waiver allows fee-free changes for all flights scheduled through Oct. 23. Travel can be rebooked in the same cabin class and to the same destination through Oct. 26.


Delta Air Lines has issued a waiver for travel through Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan; Hewanorra International Airport in St. Lucia; Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten; and Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas.


Delta’s wavier covers travel through Oct. 22. Rebooked travel must begin no later than Oct. 25.


JetBlue has issued its own waiver for travel through Oct. 21 for Grantley Adams International in Barbados; Hewanorra International Airport in St. Lucia; Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten; and Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas.


JetBlue’s waiver allows flyers to rebook for travel through Oct. 25.


Westjet has a waiver for Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba; Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados; and Punta Cana International Airport. WestJet’s waiver is in effect for travel through Oct. 21.

LIAT has advised passengers that due to the impending passage of Tropical Storm Tammy, some scheduled flights on Friday, October 20 will be affected.


The airline has cancelled flights to/from the following destinations:


LI 392 from Antigua to Dominica
LI 392 from Dominica to Barbados
LI 393 from St Vincent to St Lucia
LI 393 from St Lucia to Antigua
LI 392 will now operate Antigua direct to Barbados and onwards to St Vincent.
